WWF in Cape Verde: Our solutions

Once counted, measured and weighed, loggerhead hatchlings are released to the sea. Protected hatchery on Ervatao beach, Boa Vista Island, Cape Verde.

Sustainable tourism to the rescue?

WWF, in collaboration with the EC programme Natura 2000, has helped the Government of Cape Verde to identify and declare several protected areas throughout the archipelago.

Together with the NGO Wetlands International, we are working with the government and local communities to protect marine and coastal biodiversity of the archipelago. The project is contributing to the creation of more marine protected areas and the protection of such key species as marine turtles and whales.
