Marine turtles in Kenya fitted with satnav systems
Five marine turtles - four green and one hawksbill - in Kenya’s Kiunga Marine National Reserve have been tagged with satellite tracking devices in an attempt to learn more about their ecology.

Local communities living along the Waseges River – the main tributary to Lake Bogoria – are dependent on the river for their livelihood. Both upstream and downstream communities depend on the river for agriculture, the main activity for food production. The last few years have seen an increase in irrigated agriculture, in some cases resulting in over-abstraction of river water with water hardly reaching the communities downstream. » Read more
